The paper aims at describing the identity and attitudes of modern British Muslims towards the state, people and culture of the United Kingdom. It is based on a survey started in 2005 at an Internet portal, 'Muslim News'. The survey has been chosen for three reasons: first, 'Muslim News' is one of the most influential discussion forums where a busy exchange of opinion takes place between Muslims residing in the UK; second, 'Muslim News' has published all answers to the questionnaire, delivering an ample source material; and third, answers to the questionnaire are from the years 2005-2006, giving an up-to-date picture of the situation.
