The 'Reading Research' series has been published since 1956 by the Institute of the Book and Reading of the National Library. The article presents publication's goals, concerning reading research and methodology. Discussed studies show a broad range and scopes of research regarding, the respondents, methods, and techniques. The series reflects activity of the Institute, being engaged in studying the roles of a book for different populations in Poland.
