The Directions of Organic Farming Development

The article presents the condition of organie farming in the enlarged EU. It is important to emphasise the growing importance of this kind of farming. In the beginning, in the seventies, it has been related to the changing espectations of consumers towards food qualities. The articie shows that intensive development of farming based on crops' rotation and organic manures produced on the farm is gaining stronger and stronger position on the agriculture market. The attention has been paid to the great difierentiation of organic farming area and of amount of organic farms in particular EU countries. It depends on the size of a country, on the previous development of organic farming, future sales market and on the social, political and economic situation. Furthermore, the articie stresses the dynamie development of organic farming in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe as one of the advantages of their EU access.
