This paper is an investigation of the origin and the condition of ressentiment. The aim of it is to answer the question whether it is possible, and if so how, to eliminate effectively the phenomenon of ressentiment which can be defined as a complex of feelings (such as envy, jealousy, nastiness, feeling of weakness, angry, schadenfreude, hatred) that involves both a desire for revenge against its perpetrator and failure to express the revenge in direct action. The authoress is sceptical of its being totally eradicated; however she believes that it is possible to limit it by not searching for the 'one right answer' in admittedly unattainable values (and therefore we have no influence on possessing them), and also by seeking practical solutions for overcoming the deprivations that generate it.
