The paper discusses the editorship and contents of 'Karta Groni', a social and cultural publication of the Zywiec Region Lovers' Association (1968–2005). Detailed discussion of Articles and Documents columns leads to a conclusion that the periodical played a considerable role in disseminating scientific achievements, particularly those related to research on folk culture. The authoress postulates the continuation of research on such publications in view of their role in fostering scientific communities that are established independently from academic institutions and other scientific and research centres.
