It has been empirically established that we are equipped with the perceptual disposition to process subliminal facial information. In this article the authors would like to find out whether it could be replicated in social situations, when participants task is to form impression on others? Their aim was to provide an paradigm to test social perception of unconscious facial cues. Participants of two pilot studies have been asked to answer questions about the video material the were presented before. They were to evaluate both sender of communication and message itself. In experimental condition the authors embedded single frames (lasting for 33 ms) in certain moments of the video clip. The embed presented a picture of the sender expressing a primary emotion (fear or anger). It turned out that such subliminal stimulation alters evaluation of the message. In both experiments however, they have not identified any impact on the sender evaluation. The authors believe this paradigm should enable to experimentally test microexpression phenomenon in the future. . .
