The article discusses the circumstances and causes of the escape to the Commonwealth in 1660 by Voin Ordin-Nashchokin, a tsarist master of the pantry and the son of one of the tsar's main advisers. The author identified the protectors whom the refugee found in Poland, and outlined the plans which he attempted to realise abroad. The article also considers information about the tasks assigned by the Russian authorities, which Ordin-Nashchokin pursued in the Commonwealth in the years 1662-1666, already after he decided to return to Russia. Particular attention is paid to his efforts to establish contacts between the Russian authorities and Jerzy Lubomirski, leader of a rebellion. A successful fulfilment of those instructions enabled Voin Ordin-Nashchokin to go back to his homeland, where he continued a military-administrative career.
