This paper presents the intellectual profile of two brothers, famous personalities of the early phase of German Romanticism, known as Jena Romanticism. Thanks to their critical-literary activity, as well as translation works and modern views, Schlegel brothers helped significantly in the development of Romanticism in other European countries. They are juxtaposed to show a contrast between them. There is not, however, any doubt that they both played an important role in creating a romantic view of reality.
