Perceiving the child under the aspect of the end is necessary for comprehending who he is and in what relations he remains to the parents and the state. The child is the end in himself, and therefore may never be used as a means for anyone. That applies to the child before conception, before and after birth. The magnitude of this end is confirmed by God himself, who loves every new life.
