In his article, the author dtscusses the problem of the usefulness of common sense psychology, as well as of the knowledge acquired in various traditions of academic psychology in historical research (understood as casual explanations of historical events). In particular the cases of psychohistory (anchored in Freudian psychoanalysis), theories of personality (as defmed by the Big Five), contemporary cognitive tradition and human psychology are discussed.
