The article deals with terminology of the language for special purpose in Polish. The authoress presents in turn various views on the subject in the Polish linguistics. It is known that the term language for special purpose (jezyk specjalistyczny) does not mean as a matter of fact 'language'. She agrees with Karol Dejna that the language for special purpose is only the variety of the language. Consequently, she proposes the term special variety of language (specjalistyczna odmiana jezyka) instead of language for special purpose.
