The articie presents the importance of wholesale markets in the development of agricultural market in Poland. The research involved the chosen wholesale markets playing an important role in the agricultural trade. They are well organized and professionally equipped places where wholesale trade takes place. Wholesale markets are still popular in Western Europe. Their role is to supply the local shops, restaurants and fast food bars' chains. The wholesale markets' activities induce the process of founding commodity exchanges where goods are not present in nature but the prices of goods and conditions of supplies are negotiated
