The article is the first presentation of the findings of the author's research on one of the several Polish periodicals officially published by the Polish community in the Romanian region of Bukovina in the years 1939-1940. This is an outline of a monograph written from the point of view of a press historian interested in issues such as the circumstances of the establishment, operation and functioning, agenda and contents, authors, addressees and readers, literary and publishing properties, distribution and the extent of influence of the Catholic national weekly which enjoyed support of both Pope Pius XII and Sikorski's government, and which came into being in reaction to the German and Soviet invasion of Poland with the mission of laying grounds for 'Nowa Polska' - New Poland (after which the weekly was named) - a democratic and Christian statehood embedded in the Polish heritage.
