'East Prussia is hanging like the sword of Damocles over Poland' - these General Gustaw Orlicz-Dreszer's words constitute one of the aptest assessments evaluating the impact of East Prussia on the issue of Poland's safety after 1918. The area of East Prussia, going deep from the north into the territory of Poland, was an excellent outpost for attacks on Warsaw and the Gdansk Pomerania. Every single time the Polish side considered the operation against East Prussia to be an essential introduction to the main attack on Berlin. After 1935, however, the growth of Wehrmacht made all offensive plans purely theoretical.
