Modern Ukraine does not have appropriate regulatory documents and unified procedure for assessment of precious stone raw material, 20 types of which are attractive for investments and its extraction and production development is profitable. The authors of the article provide analysis of the most promising domestic fields potential, propose the model of development of mineral and precious stone raw material base of Ukraine as well as their own procedure for precious stone raw materials assessment, show the procedure of its action using fossilized wood of Zalimanskiy area (Kharkiv region) as cost estimation example.
