Vaclav Jaroslav Klofac was yet another figure in the ranks of Czech politicians, beside academics and artists, who inspired and enthused Slovene politicians. His influence at the beginning of 20th century cannot be separated from the conditions that prevailed at that time, primarily at the nationally mixed territories, i.e. at the Littoral and in Trieste. There the unsolved national question and aggressiveness of the Germans and Italians, respectively, demanded a more effective approach than the two Slovene most established parties offered. In a very short time his ideas were promoted also in Carniola, in central part of Slovenia, but with much less effect and success. When his followers began to promote his ideas in Ljubljana they clashed with political interests of Social Democrats and the Liberals. The collision of political interests was too hard to overcome and the very beginning of (possibly) strong party was thwarted. Nonetheless, for decades Vaclav Jaroslav Klofac remained an example of a true Slav politician, and an example of a true opposition to the Austrian authorities.
