The paper aims at providing overview and analysis of the various suggestions concerning simplification of Arabic grammar and language. The problem of grammar reform is not new, first projects can be traced back to the first centuries after the advent of Islam. Arab linguists have discussed various approaches towards grammar simplification for centuries. However, any reform that entails core restructuralisation of the Arabic language is attacked from the religious Islamic circles and perceived as jeopardising Arab-Islamic legacy due to its liturgical nature. Therefore, any significant encroachment on the Arabic language structure is deemed to fail.
