Regional musicological research is one of the top-priority research tasks of Slovak musicology. Music-historical research on the early history of the region of Spiš/Zips, taking place for many years now, enjoys a special status. Research on the contacts of prominent figures in music in Spiš with musicians active in the surrounding or more remote regions has covered the regions of Spiš and Šariš, the borderline areas of Slovakia (the Hungarian Kingdom) and Poland, and the region of Silesia. Contacts between the regions of Spiš and Gemer- Malohont have not been subjected to systematic research yet. The aim of this study is to analyze the interregional musical contacts of these two neighbouring regions from the aspect of musical topography. The topic includes issues related to the migration of music and musicians, the activities of teachers in Evangelical Lutheran municipal schools, and the comparison of urban musical life in a broader Central European context.

Hudebně-regionální výzkum je jedním z prioritních výzkumných úkolů slovenské muzikologie. Zvláštní postavení má dlouholetý hudebněhistorický výzkum starších dějin Spiše. Dosavadní výzkumy kontaktů spišských hudebních osobností s hudebníky působícími v okolních i vzdálenějších regionech zahrnovaly spišsko-šarišské území, slovensko (uhersko)-polské pohraničí a region Slezska. Kontakty mezi regiony Spiš a Gemer-Malohont dosud nebyly předmětem systematického výzkumu. Cílem předložené studie je analýza meziregionálních hudebních kontaktů právě v těchto dvou sousedních regionech z hlediska hudební topografie. Řešená problematika zahrnuje otázky migrace hudby a hudebníků, působení učitelů na evangelických městských školách a komparaci městského hudebního života v širším středoevropském kontextu.
