The following study deals with Alexanderroman by Ulrich von Eschenbach, written between 1270–12873 . The main focus is to investigate the forms of representation of ideal sovereignty, with a special focus on the exertion of violence, and, moreover, the question to which extent the novel can be read as political propaganda, which advocates the claim to power of the Přemyslid monarchs.
