The achievements of the Slovak ethnochoreology were discussed several times after it was settled in Slovakia, as an independent field of knowledge, at the beginnings of the 50ties. It was evaluated on the 1st Ethnomusicological seminar of the Institute of Musicology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in 1970 by Kl. Ondrejka and later on, after the so called velvet revolution, by St. Duzek (1993 and 2001). These and other reports refer to some folkloristic information, to the general situation on folk dance concerning fieldwork, documentation and sources (audio records, pictures, motion pictures and video documents, questionnaires etc.). Also editions, encyclopedic and cartographic issues are mentioned. The prevailing part of the documents refers to Slovak folk dances in Slovakia, partly on those of the Slovaks abroad, and relatively limited are those data related to the tradition of the minorities (Magyars, Roma, Ukrainians, Croats and Czechs). Also information is lacking about studies on Slovak folk dances carried out by foreign ethnochoreologists. Some of the mentioned fields are documented by the list of references attached.
