Tendencies of the modern Ukrainian lexicon development, ways of its nominative resources updating and its replenishment on the basis of lexicon which has appeared in the Ukrainian language practice during the period of Ukraine independence are considered. Special attention is given to the factors of the innovations' stabilization and their system and communicative support. The concept of the functional potential of innovation for designation of the degree of new unit stability within the lexicon is offered. A total parameter of its relations with other units within the language system and the text is determined. Competitive complexes included innovations for the determination of specificity of the modern Ukrainian lexicon development are analysed.
