1. The history of psychology as a subject of instruction or as an issue, a problem (perchance as a 'mandatory task' to be easily got over with) is present in the university level instruction of psychology constituting the technical basis of the Hungarian Psychological Review (hereinafter: MPSz) and the Hungarian Psychological Association (hereinafter: MPT), as well as in the university, college faculties, institutes and departments, where some kind of psychology is being taught, and deriving from this researches are conducted related to psychology. 2. If looking into the everyday and of course the 'festive' days of the MPT's organizational and professional activities, the author comes to the conclusion that the historical self-reflectivity of his profession cannot be by any means characterized as spirited. One telltale sign of this phenomenon is that within the MPT the Psychology History Section practically has not been working since the mid-1990s (after the death of Kiss György in 1998), the MPT is not even able to set up an independent section in its General Assemblies - though the traditions are there to follow. 3. At the same time the editorial board of the MPSz - thanks to the stimulations given by Plen Csaba, Editor-in-Chief - seeks to restore, strengthen and maintain the prestige, the reputation and the weight of psychology history. 4. In his debating society he endeavour to survey within the MPT's circles the attitude and the inclination towards psychology history. The initiators of the debate (Lanyi Gusztáv, Editor-in-charge of Psychology History, the opponents: Plen Csaba, Editor-in-Chief, Vajda Zsuzsanna, Editor) will reveal the present situation based on their own experiences, and expound their visions, proposals, etc. All these done as a matter of fact in accordance with the dramaturgic rules of the 'debating society', i.e. with the active - ready to debate and be a partner in finding solutions - participation of one or two delegates of the MPT Section. 5. The debating society is not destined merely to become a l'art pour l'art forum of discussions. The minimum organizational aim is to set up the MPT's Psychology History Section, while the foundation of a Hungarian Psychological History Archive and Museum is regarded as the maximum achievement.
