This article is a case study of the school celebrations in a Slovak socialist grammar school. It deals with political festivals connected with political history of the previous Czechoslovakia or Soviet Union. First part of the article describes the school celebrations in three different periods. Stress is put on the period of normalization (1970-1989). In comparison with this period two earlier periods of school celebrations are analyzed (1946-1950 and 1966-1969). These earlier periods are considered as a turning point in the Czechoslovak history. Second part analyzes organization and content of the described school celebrations.
