Patriotic and pro-solidarity decor of the Choroszcz Church surroundings which appeared there after priest Jerzy Popieluszko's death as well as masses for the motherland were treated as a pretext by Security Service to carry out a few-year- -long action coded as SOS 'ANCHOR ', i.e. a case of operational verification under a code name taken from the symbol of Fighting Poland. At the beginning, the Security Service action comprised, most of all, priests, particularly more active ones, and then a group of people gathered in the Home Church and those taking active part in the parish's religious and patriotic life. Even though a picture described in the article is just a slight fragment of a small town's reality at the end of the 1980s, and which, what must be absolutely emphasized, is perceived from the Security Service's perspective, it explicitly shows methods used by the security apparatus in the last years of communism.
