After a distinguished Polish historian claimed in 1925 that time has come to investigate carefully the history of the Polish January Uprising of 1863, various publications on that subjest appeared on several occasions, in particular to celebrate anniversaries of the said struggle. The authoress points to the social and patriotic role of books, leaflets and articles published on various anniversaries of the 1863 rising. More than often these productions had very little in common with the historian workshop, but their social role was extremely important. Recalling Mircea Eliade's 'holy time', she brings forth a concept of 'Making Present' of the historic time. The publications recalling the uprising were not intended to tell the historic truth, but to live through the events, to contemporarise the historic time. This point, which needs further investigations, is supplemented by various examples from publications on the 1863 uprising
