The study focuses primarily on the personality of Jiří Kárnet and his works which seem to have been under-reflected so far. Being among the first exiles after 1948, Kárnet had to cope with difficult conditions and lack of chance to publish his texts; therefore, most of his works remained as manuscripts. This paper is based on works and pieces of information from Kárnet's inheritance, trying to draw attention to crucial topics linked to his (dramatic) works. The author also aims at contextualizing Kárnet's personality and opens a discussion on his importance.
