The research described in the first and second part of the article is an attempt to find out if personality variables regulating human behaviour, such as value system, self-assessment, ideal-Self and type of life goals differ in youth groups of various level of social adaptation, including inadapted groups marked by criminal behaviour. Therefore, the research aim is to check if mentioned personality variables may protect youth from braking social rules. In the second part the authoress concentrates on the view of Self (self-assessment and ideal-Self) and goals mentioned by various groups.
