The present system of the social assistance in Poland considerably varies from occurring world tendencies. Differences concern not only the structure of the social assistance, but also the position and the competence of the welfare worker. There is no doubt that the occupation of the welfare worker does not belong to easy. Difficulties that welfare workers struggle with were an object of research carried out among 261 welfare workers of the province podkarpackie. Obtained findings presented in this article make valuable information not only about difficulties of welfare workers, but also indicate their source of the stress.
