This article is the result of the research carried out in Rzeszow in June 2006. Its aim is to show how spatial and social boundaries between the city housing districts are perceived. Determination of spatial boundaries between individual districts is based on indicating those districts that are recognized by the respondents as the best and the worst to live in. Differences in the evaluations of individual districts, evaluations of their inhabitants and the level of the respondents' identification with their place of residence may prove the existence of social boundaries within the city. Social boundaries between individual districts are established on the basis of: (1) - The indication of a degree to which a position of a given district (in the hierarchy 'good'/ 'bad') influences the evaluation of its inhabitants made by the respondents. In other words, how the inhabitants of a given district differ from other dwellers of the city according to such features they are attributed with as, e.g.: honesty, diligence, tolerance or social activity. (2) - The indication of a degree to which individual districts differ from other districts in Rzeszow according to ecological features, the level of urban and economic infrastructure in the inhabitants' opinion. (3) - The indication of a degree to which inhabitants of individual districts identify themselves with the province, city, housing district and street they are living in. This analysis also aims at determining a degree to which social boundaries overlap spatial ones.
