The paper concentrates upon the selected determinants and connections, which, in a significant measure, are constructing an ethnic identity of Slovak community living in Hungary, respective its elite segment - a Slovak intelligentsia and which we exposed to the empirical research (1988-1999). We are presenting the research results, which are dealing with the primary (context) markers of the research (type and degree of ethnic identity) and also will present their characteristic and differentiation in concrete. At the same time we will call attention to the connections among them and other ethnic (mother tongue, minority schools and culture) and social markers (ethnic rights, interethnic relations). The presentation will be based upon the socio-genesis of these determinants: 1.factors of ethnic identity formation; 2.type of ethnic identity and achieved degree (measure) of identity; 3.attitudes and evaluations presented in 'degree if critical views' upon the researched topics (an attitude toward the legal guarantees, evaluation of ethnic schools, evaluation of ethnic relations) activities in the sphere of ethnic and social life (use of mother tongue in the family environment, participation upon the cultural life of minority.
