The object of article is the presentation of the corruption phenomenon on the basis of publication in regional press: 'Gazeta Wyborcza Bialystok', 'Kurier Poranny' and 'Gazeta Wspólczesna'. Publications on corruption from the year 2000 onwards were analysed. In general, corruption is conditioned upon social systems and individual behaviors. Its main reasons are also historical 'tradition', low income of majority of citizens and deep social changes in the country. However, the perception of corruption can be excessively exaggerated because this phenomenon is portrayed as a main social problem. The corruption is particularly difficult to research as one can only pre-suppose its scale. The press publications on corruption concentrate mainly on its definition, scale, forms, 'sides', particularly 'vulnerable' domains of social life as well as on penalties.
