The article deals with the explanation of the Polish family name Politycki. This surname is derived from the name of the hamlet Polityka, formerly an estate, today a part of Dopiewo, west of Poznan. The basis is the name Polit, a reduced form of polutikós. Some similar Polish names are compared, furthermore occurrences in South Europe.
