The text constitutes a general assessment of the implementation of the policy of activation in Poland. It is therefore an attempt to indicate the basic directions, the key ideas which has organized the Polish social policies in the last few years. The analysis of the effectiveness of the created actions confronts us with a necessity to change the emphasis of the employed policy, in which 'activation' as the motto, the key subject should give way to 'coherence', and the active social policy to the coherent social policy with a broader, than so far, definition of the challenges of coherence both in the macro- sphere (as we are used to act) and in the micro- sphere (particular institutions, programs, instruments). As regards this context, the text signals the main challenges of the coherent social policy.
