Mieczyslaw Jastrun's late elegiac texts were analyzed and systematized according to their thematic dominants like: reference to the culture tradition (the Bible, antiquity), associations with Greek philosophy, ethical reflections, personal experience (including autobiographical remarks). Among the elegies there are four in the last two books, which allow characterization of this type of the author's lyrics. Turning towards the mythical childhood (connected with the old age experience), meditation upon time, the avareness of the forthcoming end of existence, clearance with life, reflection on memory belong to the characteristics, as well as simplicity and scarcity of artistic means of expression. Elegiac tone is always present in the poet's works, but 'late elegies' are still different.
