The proper names of companies and institutions, or commercial ergonyms, are an interesting and little studied field of scholarly analysis. The names designating companies that deal with the production, installation, and sale of various kinds of security and alarm systems were subjected to formal analysis in this article; also studied was the question of the function of commercial ergonyms. The fundamental conclusions that come from this analysis are as follows: identificational-differentiating (ID) elements of names most often perform additionally an informative function (of marketing and advertisement); the ergonyms discussed through the formal, semantic, and associational sphere fulfill well the functions intended by those who gave them.
