Fifteen years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the range of the European Union has expanded after the access of the post-communist countries of Eastern Europe, thus making it necessary to tackle the cultural differences and divergent visions of the Community's development. Undisturbed functioning under the roof of the crystal palace of the Europe of the twenty first century has been undermined, and the palace walls are starting to disclose cracks.
