There are two methods certifying the quality in Polish healthcare: certification according to the ISO 9001:2001 norm and CMJ accreditation. Number of healthcare units, which have these documents has recently substantially grown. The evidence shows that it does not bear real quality increase of services provided by the units. The paper reveals the number of certified units, reasons for the mentioned growth and some proposals, which in practice may improve quality of health care services
