The paper deals with issues connected with leadership in an organization - one of the key issues both in economic and social and political sciences as well as one of problemsto be discussed within the scope of philosophical reflection on leadership. The interest in this issue from the part of so many fields of science indicates its complexity and multidimensional charecter. In this article, the question has been presented from the point of view of economics. The author focuses his attention on leadership in a business entity. Important aspects of the paper are recommendations for the potential effective leader in an enterprise and an attempt to assess the Polish manager's level of competence. The conducted empirical research indicates explicitly that today Polish managers have a good reputation in Europe.
