The Committee was founded so as to help Poles who were forced to remain in the territory of the former Soviet Union against their will. It is gathering funds by organizing different cultural and educational events during which its members inform Polish Americans about the situation of Poles living there. The Committee provides Polish schools in the East with books and other necessary materials, founds scholarships for teachers, sponsors holidays for poor children, supports Catholic parishes and organizations.
