The article presents the results of research on economic activity of micro and small enterprises in the Lomza region, their human resources, and prospects of their further development. Although entrepreneurs declare their will to continue business running, they do not plan expansion or merger with other larger companies. This indicates a stagnant character of these enterprises, lack of development strategy or anxiety towards increased risk connected with larger scale of business activity.
