The new data are presented, backing up the hypothesis that J.F. Carosi (1744-1799) a mineralogist and the mining expert, working in Poland at the end of XVIII century, was a Pole by birth. He was born, probably, in the Hungarian-Polish family. The supposition that he was the author of the series of articles on mineralogy, published in the Polish language in the journal 'Zbiór tygodniowy wiadomosci uczonych' (The Weakly Collection of Scientific News), published in Cracow, is unequivocally confirmed. The less known Carosi's papers, published in German journals, as well as his book 'Bruchstücke' are also discussed.
