Common perception of income inequalities is essential to understanding legitimization of social order. The intent of this article is to extend previous studies on attitudes to income inequalities among Poles, building on survey data. Analysis of data coming from research carried out on national samples in 1980-2008 shows steady increase of support for reduction of inequalities of incomes, paralleled by support for the growing role of government in it. At the same time, there was a decline in belief that inequalities of income are conducive to economic growth. Bearing in mind that unequal distribution of incomes is intrinsically related to the market society, this might suggest delegitimization of the politicai and economic system in Poland. However, analysis of another aspect of distributive justice, namely attitudes on 'fair' incomes in selected occupations, disclose that people tend to approve hierarchy of incomes, but do it on the pragmatic ground.
