The article discusses the use of hidden participant observation of the style of life of individuals involved in the grey zone. The authoress wonders about the first professional experiences of a beginner researcher. She tackles the problem regarding the choice of methodology, its advantages and shortcomings in a particular research; the stages of research enforced by incoming empirical data, and finally, ethical and moral dilemmas facing any inexperienced scholars.
