Restoration of pastoralism in the Silesian Beskids in the 21st century is the result of European Union subsidies and rapid development of tourism economy. The restoration was not only related to grazing and possibilities of economic development, it also launched a reflective approach to new pastoralism. Pastoralism was "re-discovered" after many years of absence in economy, and despite the lack of intergenerational transfer of knowledge about the shepherd ́s profession. Thanks to the activities of new generation of local activists, the new pastoralism has a chance to become not only a completely new concept, but it is deeply rooted in tradition. However, it is a project resulting from the needs of modern times.
