The article presents the history of the Maritime and Colonial League, an episode from the history of Polish colonialism, whilst also posing the following two questions: (i) How to explain the phenomenon of popularity of colonial slogans in the Poland of 1930s: was it only due to propaganda-related concerns? And, (ii) how to explain no interest for colonial issues in the time of intensified (and problematic) transference of postcolonial criticism tools into the Polish/European soil?
