In 2002 and 2003 a short-term rescue excavations at site 17 in Smroków (Malopolskie voivodeship) revealed three considerably damaged graves of the Corded Ware Culture (CWC). They are typical of this culture in the Malopolska Upland. Probably two of the graves had a niche construction. They were furnished in various ways. One of the graves contained - next to the human body - remains of dog. The character of the grave inventories has good analogies in the graves assemblages of the Kraków-Sandomierz group of CWC. All graves from Smroków were absolutely dated by radiocarbon method. The most probable period of their establishing is 2450-2400 BC.
