The article is a critical analysis of the concept of 'a minimum state', one of the most famous elements of the doctrine of classical liberalism. The author shows that the postulate of a minimum state does not have a solid explanation or a detailed project describing its application to reality. Moreover, it contains contradictory theses, therefore the ideal of a minimal state seems to be a utopia which is impossible to be achieved. The author shows a significant trend in further development of the doctrine.
