In the article the 'hoshin kanri' (policy management) method is presented according to B. Witcher and R. Butterworth. The model comes from literature survey and the authors' studies conducted between 1997 and 1998 in Japanese-owned UK subsidiaries. The methodology of 'hoshin kanri' is fulfilled by two case studies: Xerox and Hewlett-Packard. Key words: Hoshin kanri method, British model.
