This article is an effort to launch discussion on the question of the future of career management as well as challenges that will crop up in front of researchers in this field. The text presents and discuses four proposals: endowing a career with sense, the interrelationship between managing careers and the organization, the entities involved in career management, and the emerging need for an integration of career management processes. The authors propose new tasks for researchers, educators, and practitioners.
