The article presents the scholarly profile of Professor K. Kardyni-Pelikánová, a famous Polish philologist and comparatist who, since 1991, has been working at the Masaryk University in Brno and for the Czech Academy of Sciences. Professor Kardyni-Pelikánová, a disciple of Karel Krejce, is the author of many excellent publications. She is the author of a well-known paper 'Kontakty literackie polsko-czeskie w dobie powstania styczniowego' (Polish-Czech Literary Contacts in the Time of the January Uprising) and 'Karel Havlicek Borovský w kregu literatury polskiej' (Karel Havlicek Borovský in the Circle of Polish Literature). The most recent writings of Kardyni-Pelikánová are: 'Czesko-polskie spotkania literackie. Komparatystyka - Genologia - Przekład' (Czech-Polish Literary Encounters. Comparatist Studies - Genealogy - Translation), which juxtaposes the most important studies of three major scholarly areas of her interest, based on an outstanding two-cultural theoretic and historical-literary competence, penetrating literary analysis and good scholarly observation as well as the synthesis of topical studies 'Uwiedzeni przez polską literaturę. Czeska polonistyka literacka' (Seduced by Polish Literature. The Czech Polish Literary Studies). The latter publication is, at the same time, the first, exceptionally valuable monograph of the history of the Czech institutional Polish studies. The book devoted to the reception of the literary work of Reymont in Czech culture, is now being prepared for print.
